Type S keg spear Type S Sankey spear (European Sankey)
Sankey spear with external thread for the S system. When opened, the whole down tube lowers by about 7 mm, which is why the bottom clearance is 14 mm. Separate valves for beer and CO₂.

Why does type S have 14 mm bottom clearance?
When opened, the whole down tube lowers by about 7 mm. With 14 mm bottom clearance, enough space to the keg bottom remains even when open.
What is the difference between a flat spear and a Sankey spear?
Flat spears (A, G, M) have a flange on which the keg coupler sits. Sankey spears (S, D) have no flange and two separate valves for beer and CO₂.
Is the type S spear SK tested?
Yes, as a stainless steel Sankey spear type S/D tested to DIN 6650-5 under DGUV Test NV 24813, SK mark SK 448-002, valid until 07.07.2029. The SK number is on the inner side of the housing.
